An option to ignore the “times watched” when choosing the next episode on a rewatch would be quite useful, especially when rewatching a show with specials you haven’t seen before.
Because right now, after watching a special for the first time, you always have to check if there is a regular episode before the next special which is shown as “Next to watch” which can get quite annoying, particularly for a show like “Doctor Who” with many specials
Thanks for reporting! Not sure how (and even if) to handle this, yet.
Don’t really want to add an option as it’s an edge case and rather hard to explain. The most consequent solution would be to ignore times watched completely and just go by next highest release date. Maybe only if a show has at least one episode multiple times watched.
Did I understand you correctly, you mean those cases where episodes in season 3 and the special season are released at the same time? Once an episode in a special season is marked, the episode in the main season is ignored and the next episode is offered for viewing. This happens a lot with anime: 1-minute special episodes released at the same time as the main series cause a bit of confusion. This can be fixed, but fixing it will break something else. Currently, if the app notices that you’ve watched a January 1, 2024 episode, it will immediately switch to the January 2, 2024 and later episodes, ignoring the fact that other episodes were released on January 1, 2024. But the new algorithm “do not suggest a new episode if there are earlier unwatched episodes” will create the following situation: the application will recommend for viewing not the next unwatched episode, but the previous unwatched one.
