Personal Trakt credentials

I don’t know if the community seen that TRAKT have now implemented a ONE community api app per FREE account

What does this mean, simply put that if you have seriesguide API app active in your trakt API app list you can no longer also add any Kodi add-ons as a new app to trakt…

You WON’T be able to use seriesguide AND Kodi with your trakt lists any more..

They claim more API apps overload their API, but it seems the drive towards VIP and further enshittification for free users continues..

All current free accounts aren’t force limited or have their current apps denied or removed (yet)

BUT if seriesguide or any kodi app requires a Trakt re authentication, the limit kicks in and all other API apps must be removed before a single new one can be added..

At this point this will become the the ONLY API you can have connected to your trakt..

I use my own personal app credentials for Kodi apps, rather than the add-ons API credentials..

Would it be possible for series guide to add a feature for users to use their own personal API keys as credentials for seriesguide instead of the seriesguide API credentials ?

This way your users won’t have to choose between seriesguide or a Kodi add-on as their single trakt app…

I suspect Kodi addons will have to return to a unified trakt API credentials app, or also allow personal credentials for each add-ons, something that was attempted before each add-on decided to use it’s own credentials..

Forget that, the trakt saga continues

Trakt deleted all developer created personal api apps and are now forcing you to be a VIP member to create one .

This is going to affect EVERYONE who uses trakt as a free member for any 3rd party app AND seriesguide..

You’ll have to choose your single app now…

I had to reinstall Kodi and restore a backup, so I needed to reauthorize Trakt within my favorite addons and to my surprise beside Seriesguide I was able to reauthorize an additional 2 addons!

Perhaps Trakt backpedaled on their decision, but only time will tell!

If you can just reauthorise your existing ones you’re ok and the list will stay as it’s… but when they expire or have to delete one, then the hard limit kicks in…

Knowing trakt, they’ll find a way to force you to delete one in some eas way soon…

Trakt definitely deleted ALL the self created developer apps from people’s lists though…

And the ONLY way to add one of those is to now go VIP..

It seems lots of people are just exporting their lists to mdblist and using that instead of going VIP..

Thanks for the info! Note that their announcement is at 🔌 An update to Community App connections - Announcements - Trakt Forums

They indeed appear to also have deleted existing credentials (under Trakt Web: Settings) as credentials I used for testing are now gone. :frowning:
