Simkl integration?

Contrary to trakt, simkl pays for the use of tvdb. It’s way more accurate with air dates, specifically outside of the US.

I second this!
Would also be nice to have alternative to Trakt
I understand it’s old topic, but still valid

Due to recent events I looked into Simkl integration again.

They seem to offer free importing and more importantly exporting of your data, which is good.

However, they ask “commercial apps” (SeriesGuide would qualify under their definition) to pay for using their API (third-party interface SeriesGuide would use). While a point can be made for this (users are less likely to pay for two services, so SeriesGuide and theirs) and it would be perceivable to introduce another subscription tier that adds Simkl support: at this time I don’t want the time sink of negotiating terms and all the organization that comes with this.

Thanks so much for looking into this and for your findings and opinion. I completely understand. Thanks again.

While I get your concerns there is a real opportunity here with the recent VIP price changes from Trakt which was basically a 180 from their previous policy of all rates are grandfathered in. I can see a lot of people getting mad at this decision and moving to Simkl in protest and I think it would be quite easy to have Simkl + SeriesGuide subscription be well under what Trakt is trying to charge at $60 a year. I love using SeriesGuide (especially for the homescreen widget), but not having a good way to keep it in sync with Simkl is tough.
