Contrary to trakt, simkl pays for the use of tvdb. It’s way more accurate with air dates, specifically outside of the US.
Thanks for the suggestion.

I second this!
Would also be nice to have alternative to Trakt
I understand it’s old topic, but still valid
Due to recent events I looked into Simkl integration again.
They seem to offer free importing and more importantly exporting of your data, which is good.
However, they ask “commercial apps” (SeriesGuide would qualify under their definition) to pay for using their API (third-party interface SeriesGuide would use). While a point can be made for this (users are less likely to pay for two services, so SeriesGuide and theirs) and it would be perceivable to introduce another subscription tier that adds Simkl support: at this time I don’t want the time sink of negotiating terms and all the organization that comes with this.
Thanks so much for looking into this and for your findings and opinion. I completely understand. Thanks again.
While I get your concerns there is a real opportunity here with the recent VIP price changes from Trakt which was basically a 180 from their previous policy of all rates are grandfathered in. I can see a lot of people getting mad at this decision and moving to Simkl in protest and I think it would be quite easy to have Simkl + SeriesGuide subscription be well under what Trakt is trying to charge at $60 a year. I love using SeriesGuide (especially for the homescreen widget), but not having a good way to keep it in sync with Simkl is tough.
I’d love to see this happen.
The recent mess V3 Trakt has unleashed has lead me to explore Simkl but their companion app/apps are too cluttered and messy to use.
Series Guide is so much better.
Simkl with a Series Guide companion app would be my dream solution.
Something well worth paying for IMO
Would be happy for an alternative to Trakt as they now have limited App connections to only one for free users! For me this makes Trakt pretty useless…
I too will be ditching Trakt, and with it I guess I’ll be leaving SeriesGuide, at least for now.
There’s a lot of options now too. I’m running YamTrack and CrossWatch on my media server, and trying out mdblist as my online Trakt alternative. I’d love for SG to integrate with any of these. I love the style of SG, but if I can’t sync with my media server, it means marking stuff manually, which just doesn’t work for me. Here’s hoping SG can get some other integrations going!
For now, my Trakt acct says apps 2/1 (SG and Emby), but once it breaks from Syncing, I guess I’m done ![]()
Looking forward, I’m now on Emby not Plex, and on Simkl not TRAKT. the missing piece of the perfect setup for me is Series Guide.
Really hopefully that the development team read these messages and see there’s an opportunity with this, I would definitely be happy to pay a fee to get Series Guide back into my setup.

Any update on this?
I am really looking for switching from Trakt to SIMKL. But SIMKL does not have a proper mobile app yet.
SIMKL API Docs: https://api.simkl.com/
Yeah… I used to use SeriesGuide + Trakt… that was my combo… atleast till last week.
Waiting for SeriesGuide to add an alterantive, or I might have to switch as well…
Count me as another whose use case for SeriesGuide was broken by Trakt’s anti-user turn… I’ve been a paid SeriesGuide user since January 15, 2013 (I just looked it up lol) so it’s been integral for me but without syncing it just didn’t fill a need. Hopefully sometime can be worked out because I love the app!
Thanks for all the recent messages. Note that I did edit some so they remain on topic and this doesn’t become a thread to flame Trakt.
For anyone coming here, see my original statement: Simkl integration? - #4 by uwe
This still stands and in addition I don’t really want to integrate with another proprietary service. Then again, my opinion might change in the future.
