I’m raising this issue again - last discussed over a year ago - because it seems to be getting worse.
There are many, many cases where movie “release dates” that SeriesGuide picks up are nowhere near close to the actual “official” release date of those movies.
Here’s one example … (I have my SeriesGuide “release times country” set to United Kingdom):
For the movie “Diva” IMDB and TMDB both agree that the release year was 1981. However, because there is an entry in the TMDB Release Dates list like this:
then SeriesGuide reports the release year as 2007 This is clearly incorrect.
France has this entry:
as do several other countries.
Here are more examples:
- “Das Boot”, TMDB 387, released 1981, SeriesGuide says released in 1998
- “Plan 9 from Outer Space”, TMDB 10513, released 1957, SeriesGuide says released in 2000
- “The Shining”, TMDB 694, released 1980, SeriesGuide says released in 2007
Uwe, would you consider changing the way that SeriesGuide determines the release year? If both IMDB and TMDB can work out (in this case) that the release year is 1981, can we have SeriesGuide use the same logic? As it stands, movie lookup and sorting on release date are not accurate in SeriesGuide.
